Tilex and Tips for no mold!

I love the changing of the weather and the approaching season of Spring, the sound of rain brings with it, the hope of green plant life and sunny days.  The rain also brings in with it, moisture; water that finds its way into every available crack and opening in your house.  Moisture and rain also invites mold, which of course, is NOT inviting!  Mold can cause a myriad of problems.

Hey, mold is kind of cool looking...except for that ewww part!

To help avoid mold some good ideas include;

Opening your window a bit in the bathroom allows fresh air in and moist air out.

If possible, no carpets in moist places;  bathrooms, basements and kitchens (lots of spills, at least in my kitchen).  Check your kitchen sinks, dishwashers, washing machines.  If you are remodeling, choose bamboo floors if possible, it naturally repels mold, mildew and insects!

Run a dehumidifier when necessary.

Repair leaky plumbing, sinks, faucets, bathtubs.  Check for any roof leaks (those are especially fun).

Vacuum and change vacuum filter often.

When you do notice mold coming in clean, clean it immediately.

I always try a vinegar or tea tree oil solution first.

Air and dry out the space.
