Ingredients:
Pears
Cinnamon (I like Ceylon Cinnamon)
dash of Nutmeg
dash of Ginger
Brown Sugar
Grass Fed Butter (please use real butter)
Options:
Crushed walnut - 1/4 cup for 6 pears
Frozen Organic Yogurt (love Stonyfield Vanilla)
I baked three pears, but use how ever many you need and just add more brown sugar and spices.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Peel your pears.
Place your pears in a baking dish on top of a half tablespoon each of butter
Sprinkle about two teaspoons of brown sugar on each pear (don't worry about it being too much sugar, most falls into dish for the pears to bake in)
Sprinkle your spice mixture (cinnamon & nutmeg & ginger) on top of each pear. If you are using walnuts, add the crushed walnuts now.
I put my pears in the middle of a baking dish on top of unbleached parchment,
when all of the butter and sugar is added you can shape the parchment into a "bowl" to keep the butter "with" the pears.
In the middle of baking, pull out and brush the butter that has now melted in the bottom of the pan with the sugar - brush around the pears. You only have to do this once.
Bake 25 minutes or until the pears are soft enough to pierce with fork.
Add hot pears to organic frozen yogurt for the perfect and easy autumn treat!
Notes:
I use Stonyfield Organic Frozen Yogurt (vanilla)
I use Frontier spices - organic and non-irradiated.
This is absolutely delicious with apples as well. Peel the apples and bake a bit longer!
Happy Autumn!
