Spiced Sliced Apples!
I can wait no more. Last weekend the temperature dropped and I had autumn on my mind! I am ready for scarves, windy days, falling leaves and spiced everything! I started to make my go-to apple crumble and these apple slices were so incredibly delicious...I just stopped at spices! These spiced apple slices are made for on top of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of creme fraiche spooned generously on top! They smell as good as they taste so grab some apples next time you go to the market and let autumn begin!
Ingredients -
Apples - We use Gala or Honey Crisp & always organic!
Grass Fed Butter - 2 tablespoons
Brown Sugar - 2 heaping tablespoons unpacked
Pumpkin Spice - 3 teas
Vietnamese Cinnamon - 1 teas (Ceylon Cinnamon works too)
Maple Syrup - 1 heaping runny tablespoon or spoon of Manuka Honey!
Cook -
Slice Apples.
We peeled about half of the slices. (the kids don't like too many)
Add a tablespoon of coconut oil to skillet at medium heat
Add in apple slices and saute until they are a bit soft, but still crunchy!
Add in and melt butter.
Stir.
Add in spices and maple syrup / Manuka Honey
Stir.
Taste and tweak to taste!
Top over ice cream and enjoy immediately!
Add a spoonful of French creme fraiche on top.
Spiced Sliced Apples are divine on top of oats in the morning!
Happy Autumn Happiness!
My Notes:
Food Matters -
we eat organic apples, non-irradiated spices and grass fed butter.
We like Irish Kerrygold Grass Fed and Frontier Co-op Spices
We used Staub Iron Skillet
